Boolean Operators (and, or, not)

Licenced library databases and WWW search engines all use Boolean operators to combine search terms. Boolean operators are words (connectors) placed between keyword search terms to narrow or expand a search.

The common Boolean operators are:

AND, OR, NOT.

Be aware that some Web search engines use their own symbols (e.g. +, -) for these operations.

Always consult to find out what symbols are used.
